Update on Driver’s Education Options The state legislature recently passed the budget which includes funding for driver’s education. This means that Cabarrus County Schools will again be offering driver’s education classes. All of our students are eligible to take the classes offered by Cabarrus County Schools since funding is tied to the county in which a student attends school. However, they have not determined if they will be able to offer those classes at Cannon or if our students would need to attend at a local public school. As soon as we have more information from Cabarrus County Schools, we will share it with you. In addition, Cannon will offer classes on campus through Helms Driving School on Friday, October 9, Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, and again on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18. All classes will be from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. each day. To register for these classes, please e-mail Joy Pinto. Helms also offers weekend classes (over the course of three weekends) at their facility in Charlotte. Licensing requirements mandate 30 hours of classroom instruction, followed by six hours of behind the wheel instruction with a licensed instructor.
