Absences or early dismissals got you feeling behind? How can Academic Coaching at Cannon (ACC) help you push to a strong finish for Trimester 1?  Whether you’re on campus or remote, we’re here for you!

 Sign up for an academic coaching session (Room 606) during your DROP – time slots are available this week! Our Academic Coaching team (Mrs. Weakland, Mr. Smith, Mrs. Miller, Ms. Holston, Mrs. Calles, and Mrs. Smith) are ready to support YOU in the way YOU choose!  YOU decide date and time of appointment, frequency of appointments (3x is recommended!), and the content of appointment.

 Use the ACADEMIC COACHING QR CODES posted throughout the building and outside teachers’ classrooms to secure an appointment with one of our AWESOME Academic Coaches! Reach out to Mrs. Kulp ( if you have questions or need help signing up for sessions.

TODAY the Upper School will participate in Kids Voting. You may come down to the tent during a class break, at lunch, or during office hours. You will receive an “I voted” sticker and a festive pencil. On Monday, November 2nd, we will do make-up voting for group 2 during lunch, office hours, and D block. We will announce the Cannon School winner for president, NC senator, and others on the Monday afternoon before election day.

***House Impetus and House Humanitas are teaming up for a HALLOWEEN DOOR DECORATING CONTEST! Everyone in your advisory will come together to create a fun and festive door decoration in the spirit of Halloween due by WEDNESDAY, October 28th. Our houses be voting for the best door NEXT THURSDAY. Please get creative, the winner will receive a TREAT!

Cannon’s Scholastic Fundraising book fair is here!! You can join in the fair excitement, as Cannon has expanded its book offering to include young adult and adult best sellers. Cannon’s fall fundraising book fair Is Oct 26 to Nov 8th. Below is the link-

The Upper School Math department is excited to announce the official return of The Math Café.  Get one-on-one help from Cannon Math teachers during either of the times below.  The 2020 Grand Opening is Tuesday, Oct. 27

This week HUMANITAS will be having guessing jars for everyone to participate! Stop by the Humanitas board at the spiral stairs and enter for a chance to win the candy! Guesses will be checked Friday!

*STUDENTS,  TEACHERS, AND FACULTY, HOUSE ANIMUS IS COLLECTING CANDY FOR OUR TROOPS!! We are so excited to be teaming up with Operation Gratitude for the 3rd year in a row to collect Halloween candy to give back to those fighting for our country. We invite everyone in the upper school to participate so we get as much candy as possible. A bin is located under the Animus wall by the spiral staircase. OUR GOAL IS ABOVE THE GOLD LINE! Individually wrapped, fun- or bite-sized candy is ALL accepted. NO powdered candy, unwrapped, or homemade items. Chocolate is ok too! 


***Second Harvest Food Bank is in need of volunteers.  See the information and links below for requirements and to sign up:

  • Most weekday volunteers shifts at the warehouse are for ages 17 and older.  If you are 17 or older, you can sign up to volunteer any day/time. 
  • Volunteers aged 13-16 permitted with an adult:  Thursday evening 6-8pm and Saturdays 9am-12pm or 1-3pm
  • Log into the calendar system linked below to register for a volunteer shift.

To log into the calendar system and see ALL available shifts and to schedule:

  3. You will then be in the online calendar system.

Seniors & Juniors are invited to sign-up in SCOIR for Zoom meetings with College Admission Representatives. Sessions will be during lunch and office hours. Check SCOIR for the most up-to-date listing of college representative visits and click HERE for full registration directions. REMINDER: If you are a JUNIOR on campus come to The Cube for the Rep Visit. If you are Senior on Campus, either come to The Cube for the Rep Visit or email your College Counselor to reserve a private room to view the visit. Per school policy it is REQUIRED that your VIDEO is on during the Rep Visit.
