***This year the Pinky Swear club has put together an outdoor Walk-a-Thon event during flex (12:30) on Friday, April 16th down at the track! The Upper School is invited to participate by paying $2. Money will be collected in envelopes by advisors starting Monday 4/12. You will enjoy music, popsicles, and a gift card raffle! With each additional dollar paid you will receive an extra entry in the raffle. You will also earn house points! All funds will be donated to the Pinky Swear Foundation which is a nonprofit organization that provides financial and emotional care for families who have a child battling cancer. We also urge you to wear orange and blue. Come walk for a cause!

You may have noticed the green flyers popping up around school with a list of possible volunteer opportunities; Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a massive decrease in relational volunteer work. As my capstone project, I will be hosting a conversation about  importance of these types of organizations, why they are worth getting involved in, and common misconceptions about members of the homeless community and the effect they have on mental health of people within it. Feel free to stop by Mrs. Ross’s room on Tuesday April 1st or join my zoom room during lunch if you would like to participate. THERE WILL BE COOKIES AND LEMONADE!!!!

Hey everyone! We are finishing our capstone this week to recognize girls’ sports teams each week during women’s history month.

This week’s team is girl’s lacrosse! This is a new team at Cannon, and the girls are proud that they have made varsity lacrosse a reality and it’s an experience they never thought would be possible, especially for the seniors this year. At their last game, Ella Kungl and Bella Edmondson each had 1 goal, and Wylie Neal had a 53% save percentage! 

Come support them at their game this Tuesday, March 30th at 5! We encourage everyone to try to come in person, but if you can’t make it, tune in with local live!

As my capstone project, I will be hosting a conversation about  importance of these types of organizations, why they are worth getting involved in, and common misconceptions about members of the homeless community and the effect they have on mental health of people within it. Programs are volunteer-led changing attitudes, transforming lives, and inspiring a world of belonging. This year, PALS Programs is fortunate to be in a pivotal position to host hybrid programs this Summer 2021 to serve our communities.

Hey everyone! We are continuing our capstone this week to recognize girls’ sports teams each week during women’s history month.

This week’s team is soccer! One member of the soccer team told us that a defining part of their team is the many traditions that have been carried across the years, including riddles, the team mascot Charles, and questionnaires, all of which has helped bring the team closer together and helped with their undefeated season last year! At their last game, Brooke Van Epps and Sarah Little each had 2 goals! Way to go soccer! 

In part of supporting their team, we want everyone to go watch their next game against Carmel Christian on Friday, March 26th at 7! • Bothsummer program options are based on the proven PALS model: one-to-one pairings, team-based interactions, and activities and programming that accelerate friendships and inspire a world of belonging.

PALS North Carolina will take place on July 31st and August 1st in White Oak, NC. Participants will be on-site from 9am-5pm local time each day.

Volunteers do not need to have prior experience with Down syndrome or the disability community, and training is provided at the beginning of each program. Volunteers must be 15 or older to be eligible. PALS is committed to keeping all participants safe during all events, which will be fully outdoor with masking and social distancing requirements for all participants, as well as small cohort teams made up of no more than 10 individuals. 
 

PALS is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for all participants with and without Down syndrome to create a world of belonging, where all people are valued for their unique perspectives and lived experiences. There are no costs associated with volunteering at PALS.

Hey everyone! We are continuing our capstone this week to recognize girls’ sports teams each week during women’s history month.

This week’s team is soccer! One member of the soccer team told us that a defining part of their team is the many traditions that have been carried across the years, including riddles, the team mascot Charles, and questionnaires, all of which has helped bring the team closer together and helped with their undefeated season last year! At their last game, Brooke Van Epps and Sarah Little each had 2 goals! Way to go soccer! 

In part of supporting their team, we want everyone to go watch their next game against Carmel Christian on Friday, March 26th at 7! One simple task, is all we are asking from US students as we continue to advance our options in the dining hall.  We are just asking that you sanitize your hands upon entering and again after exiting the dining hall.  

As you have seen, we have opened up A-La-Carte service of the daily menu as well as adding  an alternative menu option and pre-made gran and go salads.  We have also unlocked the drink beverage coolers and ice cream cooler for self serve. This is where sanitizing your hands becomes an important task.  Additionally, we offer a one-time use disposable glove for those that prefer not to touch a high traffic door handle.  

So SANITIZE! SANITIZE! SANITIZE!

Additionally, we are about 2 weeks away from opening a modified version of our deli
