Dear Upper School,

Starting March 1st, a recycling bin will be placed in Senior Hall. It is part of my capstone project regarding recycling plastic bottles. In the U.S., 2,500,000 plastic bottles are being used every hour, and most of them are not being recycled. This contributes to the 80% of ocean plastic coming from land-based sources.  All this plastic in the ocean is affecting wildlife, not only injuring them, but also killing them.

This is why I ask your help to make a small contribution as a community.

Please ONLY put plastic bottles in it, and do NOT put anything other in the bin.

Thank you very much for your contributions.

Estelle Boon

USED STATIONERY RECYCLING DRIVE!

There are bins near the science, English, math, and WL hallways. We would really appreciate your contribution! Help us stand up for this noble cause to #stopplasticwaste

***Dear Upper School,

Estelle Boon

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.”—Langston Hughes

Kudos to Hope Kramer and Tyler Green for their TEAMWORK and KINDNESS in cleaning up a spill in the Commons on Friday afternoon.

Colby Dry, Brevin Wilson, Devin Bell, Claire Schafer, Caroline DuMond, Olivia Equan, Brandon Bartelli, and Madison Bryan all showed passion in attending the Middle School Assembly last week to share tips on study habits, friendship challenges, and time-management.  They gave up time during their lunch to share their wisdom with the younger students.  We had a follow-up advisory lesson where the students had a deeper discussion after hearing their advice, so we truly appreciated having them share their experiences.

Joseph Earl Levy displayed TEAMWORK in moving some desks for the English department!

Marco Papis helped the College Counseling Team with unloading supplies from the admission deans panel -thank you for your kindness!

Robert Walley has demonstrated kindness all year by offering to help teachers and students when needed. Just last week, he noticed a faculty member moving around large desks, and Robert quickly asked if he could assist them. Way to be a gentleman, Robert!

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars and to change the world.”

-Harriet Tubman

Aubrey Haas & Gates Ravin demonstrated kindness when they signed up to clean a chalkboard wall in Spanish class.

Sarah Leonard continues to show an impressive passion for Spanish. She uses her extra time to practice her conversational skills, and even asks for additional resources and strategies to immerse herself in the language. Way to go, Sarah!

Kennedy Nemechek has demonstrated an incredible amount of proficiency growth and passion in Spanish class. She has stayed ahead of pace in every unit, and elevated her level of speaking and writing.

Brody Schleck has demonstrated great passion for the Spanish language during his time in the Upper School. As a senior, he has pursued an independent study of music in the Spanish speaking world; with units devoted to specific regions. He has even interviewed native speakers to further his research and understanding of music and culture.

Jibraan Syed has been a phenomenal student in Spanish class, showing passion all year! He models to others what it means to be organized, dedicated, and in charge of your learning. In the self-paced classroom, he tackles all of the “nice-to-do” and “aspire-to-do”s to make sure he is fully prepared to perform well on mastery checks! Thanks for your dedication, Jibraan

Robert Walley has demonstrated kindness all year by offering to help teachers and students when needed. Just last week, he noticed a faculty member moving around large desks, and Robert quickly asked if he could assist them. Way to be a gentleman, Robert!
