On Friday and Saturday, April 22nd & 23rd, Mimi Wahid and Grayson Herrera represented the Cannon Upper School at the North Carolina Science Olympiad State competition at NC State University in Raleigh. Wahid & Herrera finished 5th and earned a medal in the Hydrogeology event.

Last Saturday afternoon, Andrew VanWingerden demonstrated kindness when he stopped his truck and allowed a driver to enter the traffic flow leaving the Target parking lot at exit 25.  Unbeknownst to Andrew, the driver of the car was Mr. K.  Way to go, Andrew!

As part of the Upper School’s Prom Promise activities, EMPOWER! Club is hosting a Kona Ice Event Friday during lunch in the Quad.  Enjoy delicious shaved ice for $3, $4, or $5 dollars.  Remember to bring cash or debit card on Friday. Proceeds benefit EMPOWER! Club.  EMPOWER! Club is a chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), a national student organization to promote healthy choices and decision making. Prom Promise is a national event where high school students pledge to have a safe & sober prom. Juniors & Seniors who sign the Prom Promise Pledge will get a 50 cent off coupon!

TODAY is the National Day of Silence, a day to honor those who have been silenced by discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.  Please join the Gender and Sexuality Alliance in wearing red this Friday in honor of the Day of Silence and the victims of discrimination.

Cannon School will celebrate Earth Day with a dress-down day on Friday, April 22nd. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear appropriate jeans and shirts that are either green or have a green message such as: Celebrate Earth Day, Reduce/Reuse/Recycle, Eat Local, Clean Water, Protect the Earth. Please be sure messages are appropriate as per standard dress code.
