Freshmen, Sophomores, and JuniorsAre you interested in learning more about colleges in California?  The College Counseling department is teaming up with area high schools to offer a Tour of California Colleges in June, 2017.  This tour will be organized by EF Tours.  A mandatory information meeting is being held at Christ the King Catholic High School, 2011 Crusader Way, Huntersville NC 28078 (right off Hwy 73 near the intersection of Poplar Tent and Hwy 73) on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:00pm.  Parents of interested students must be in attendance to learn more about the trip.  An email has gone out to all parents of 9th, 10th, and 11th graders.  If you’re interested, encourage your parent(s) to attend the meeting on September 27.

 Having difficulty citing your sources?  Want to learn about the changes to the new MLA format?  Attend a workshop on using Noodletools to help you properly cite your sources when writing your research paper.  The workshop will be held in the US library reference room on Thursday, Sep 22 during Student Choice. (1:05 -1:30).  Please email Mr. Kmidowski to register.

HOLASPANISH CLUB!

We have a lot of exciting things we hope to do this year including serving in the Spanish Community, (YES THAT MEANS SERVICE HOURS) as well as some fun activities, like watching Spanish horror movies in the month of October and learning how to make Spanish recipes. We really hope you guys are as excited as we are! Our first meeting will be held on September 22 during Student Choice, so the Thursday after class trips are over. We will introduce ourselves to you all and discuss ideas for the future of Spanish Club this year. Hope to see you all there, Morgan Waite, Alex Holloway, Mary Edwards, and Mrs. Cabrera

Homecoming and the Fall semi-formal are right around the corner! This year’s dance will be full of surprises and prizes as we celebrate our Cannon Community. Join DJ Phalse iD for a fabulous dance, great snacks, and a night of fun and entertainment! Tickets will go on sale Monday after class trips. The tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. You may get tickets from Student Council representatives when they come to your advisory, or you may purchase at any time from Ms. Harley or Ms. Eury.

HOLASPANISH CLUB!

We have a lot of exciting things we hope to do this year including serving in the Spanish Community, (YES THAT MEANS SERVICE HOURS) as well as some fun activities, like watching Spanish horror movies in the month of October and learning how to make Spanish recipes. We really hope you guys are as excited as we are! Our first meeting will be held on September 22 during Student Choice, so the Thursday after class trips are over. We will introduce ourselves to you all and discuss ideas for the future of Spanish Club this year. Hope to see you all there, Morgan Waite, Alex Holloway, Mary Edwards, and Mrs. Cabrera

Homecoming and the Fall semi-formal are right around the corner! This year’s dance will be full of surprises and prizes as we celebrate our Cannon Community. Join DJ Phalse iD for a fabulous dance, great snacks, and a night of fun and entertainment! Tickets will go on sale Monday after class trips. The tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. You may get tickets from Student Council representatives when they come to your advisory, or you may purchase at any time from Ms. Harley or Ms. Eury.

Jake Diskin, Hope Springate, Maddie Woods, and Taylor Lumpkins demonstrated PASSION by volunteering to help direct traffic on Parent Orientation Night.

Symone Walker and Azlynn Anderson showed KINDNESS and RESPECT when they helped me clean up my room, put my stools on my tables, and brought trays down to the cafeteria after school today! They were such a huge help to me! Thanks so much!!

Great TEAMWORK was shown when Zach VanWingerden helped a classmate and Sra.Báez figure out Audacity software. Gracias Zach for your help.

Russ Campbell showed KINDNESS when he brought the Advancement Office treats from Chick-Fil-A when they said they were hungry!

Jordan Besh, Maddie Woods, and Maya Campbell showed KINDNESS when they cleaned the Chinese Classroom Whiteboard.

Zach Christy, Jackson Cooksey, Peter Fromke, and Alex Coale demonstrated TEAMWORK when they volunteered to breakdown a tent in the rain for Dean Zelaya.  Gracias, muchachos!!!

Zac Venos, one of my son’s favorite Cougar football players, walked my son to his classroom for his birthday so that he could introduce him to his class. Thanks so much for making my son’s day!

ATTENTION FRESHMAN!!! All Freshman interested in running for student council need to get a copy of the bylaws from Ms. Harley. This needs to be turned in with a parent signature along with your speech by Friday, September 9th at 3:00 to Ms. Harley. Elections will be held for the three freshman representative spots during your class trip. Thank you so much for your interest in student council–we would love to have you on the team!

All welcome to our First EMPOWER! Club meeting this Wednesday, Sept. 7th, 11:20-12:00 Noon in Foundation Hall. There will be treats! Find out how to volunteer & get involved.
