Gabby Holloway and Emily Cleveland showed PASSION when they initiated a meeting with the admission office to discuss new ways the admission office interns could help at Cannon.

Kate Nelson showed PASSION when she worked with others to create a video to promote the Cannon Student Ambassador Network.

Chase Erdin demonstrated TEAMWORK when he showed Dean Zelaya how to install a printer on her computer.

Emmaleigh Northrup demonstrated TEAMWORK when she helped set up yearbook equipment for her team.

The math department wants to give a shout out to the 60 students and 3 faculty members that showed COURAGE and PASSION when they signed-in to the Math Café at the very successful Grand Opening event on Friday…some of them even came for math help! Those students are listed below. Hope to see even more students come do some math with us in Math Café open mornings on Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri and afternoons Mon, Tues, Thurs.

Aubrey Haas demonstrated PASSION when she taught herself how to write her name in cuneiform.

Will Zandhuis demonstrated KINDNESS when he went out of his way to hold the door for Dean Zelaya and her children.

Carter Rice demonstrated KINDNESS as he helped a fellow student break down and carry a heavy table after the club fair.

Katherine Calcagno demonstrated KINDNESS when she stayed an extra few minutes in Spanish class to clean up after her peers.

Faith Carpenter and Will Rauer demonstrated COURAGE when they each initiated a tough conversation with a teacher.

Anna Dula and Lydia Craven demonstrated KINDNESS when they helped Dean Zelaya carry snacks to a classroom.

All students are welcome to stop by during lunch and choice to see and use the space, and to learn both more about what resources are available to use and how to get trained on the equipment. Keep an eye on the blog for information about this year’s Make of the Month projects, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a number of seasonal one-shot projects from decals to decorations and more. This year, video gaming in The MiLL will be welcome only on Fridays and open only to students who have utilized the space to work on projects outside of class time earlier in the week. Hey everyone!

This year, Griffin, Mason, Heidi, and I will be starting a filmmaking club. If you have a passion for any aspect of filmmaking, whether it be screenwriting, acting, editing, or are just looking for something to do after school, we would love to have you join! Please feel free to email any of us or let one of us know in person if you’re interested. This is just for us to get an idea of how many people would actively participate in the club once we start meeting.

Auditions for Cannon Theater Company’s winter musical “Bright Star” will happen on Thursday September 5 and Monday September 9! SOPHOMORES: You will earn points for your Houses by breaking in tour boots for Outward Bound. Wear your hiking boots on the following days and let your House leaders know: 8/30 and 9/6.


The Grief Affinity Group is sponsoring a 3-week grief seminar during lunch  Wednesday, August 28th & Tuesday, Sept. 3rd in Room 512. Mrs. Hoffman, US Counselor, and Shea Collins, grief counselor, invite all students wishing to talk, listen, or learn about how to handle grief and/or support a friend. Contact Mrs. Hoffman or Mr. Ross if you have any questions.


It’s HOT outside. Soon it will be cold, icy, and miserable.  The Class of 2020 is trying to raise funds for a gift to Cannon School.  If you are interested in submitting a bid for one of four PRIMO parking spaces, email Dean Booker with the maximum you’d be willing to donate.  All bids must be received by 8/30 at 3:05pm.  Help yourself and the Class of 2020!!!


The MiLL at Cannon School (aka The Upper School Makerspace, or what used to be called the Outback) is open and ready for Making! All students are welcome to stop by during lunch and choice to see and use the space, and to learn both more about what resources are available to use and how to get trained on the equipment. Keep an eye on the blog for information about this year’s Make of the Month projects, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a number of seasonal one-shot projects from decals to decorations and more.

This year, video gaming in The MiLL will be welcome only on Fridays and open only to students who have utilized the space to work on projects outside of class time earlier in the week. For more information please contact Mush Hughes in person or at mushhughes@cannonschool.org

Kate Booker demonstrated PASSION for Cannon School by allowing a new student to shadow her at the last minute.

Nicky Thompson demonstrated KINDNESS when she offered to let a visitor shadow her during Spanish class.

Grace Ankrom demonstrated KINDNESS when she brought in breakfast for a fellow adviser who had been away for a few days.

Cash McCreary showed KINDNESS when he went above and beyond to support a friend who needed it.

Eli Snodgrass showed KINDNESS when he escorted a classmate to the nurse.

DJ Nix showed KINDNESS when he helped Dean Booker remove trash from the Senior Lounge walls.

When called out for anything in life, one’s instinct can be to make excuses or to point out that other people are doing the same thing. Not so for Dillon Casey. He simply owned up and apologized to his teacher showing INTEGRITY. #realman
