Meditation with Mrs. Miller

Thursdays at 12:15

Mrs. Miller’s classroom 614

Also on Zoom: https://cannonschool-org.zoom.us/j/5629582023

Are you stressed out? Bored? Seeking greater insight? Just want a quiet place to be? Join Mrs. Miller on Thursdays at the end of lunch to practice a short meditation (10-15 mins). You don’t need any experience. Students and adults are invited. I will be meditating whether anyone joins or not, so feel free to slip in silently and join if you want. I will guide a short, secular mindfulness meditation. No commitment needed. Come once or every week.

***Hey Folks!

I am helping to organize a tournament called the Georgia Junior Cup! This event will raise money for the Bobby Jones Golf Course FoundationThe Summit Counseling Center, and the AJGA’s ACE Grant Program. These programs provide money for low-income families with children that want to pursue golf! The money is used to buy golf clubs, pay tournament fees, and help pay college tuition for kids in need of aid. Click on the links above to learn more about each!

This is the link to my donation page! My goal is to raise $1,000. Thank you for any support you can lend!

Camp Cannon Job Opportunity

***Are you looking for a summer job? Do you consider yourself flexible, good with kids, willing to take risks and/or a hard worker? Do you enjoy engaging with others in our Cannon community? If so, you’re exactly who Camp Cannon is looking for to be a part of camp this summer! Applications for new employees open on 1/29 and can be found HERE. We will be taking applications until all positions are filled.

All returning employees should inform Mr. Borowicz about their interest in working at Camp Cannon again this summer by 2/28. You can reach him at pborowicz@cannonschool.org.

Feel free to reach out to Mr. Jones (leejones@cannonschool.org) or Mr. B (pborowicz@cannonschool.org) for any questions about Camp Cannon.

House Integritas is hosting a GUESSING JAR activity. At the top of the spiral staircase, where all the house shelves and displays are, there are three jars filled with candy. One with Hersey Kisses, one with Reece’s Cups, and one with Air-Heads. At the end of this email, there is a link to a Google Form where you can submit your guesses. Whomever gets the answer right first (or the closest answer at the end of the contest) wins what’s inside the jar. You are free to look at each jar on their display, but please refrain from moving them from their place. This is to prevent the possibility of one being dropped and broken. The jars are glass and will, in fact, break. Also please do not open the jars to count what’s inside. That is lame and ruins the fun for everybody. Have fun and good luck. May the luckiest person win!

Spring 2021 Driver Education Program (Virtual)

This year, Cannon School has contracted with a local company to offer a virtual driver education program during the spring semester. Classes and behind-the-wheel instruction will be provided by WatsOnWheels (https://www.watsonwheelsnc.com/).  WatsOnWheels has agreed to offer Cannon students a discount and provide the course for $350 per student.  The classes will be held Tuesday – Monday, April 6th – 19th from 4:00 – 7:00, and the maximum amount of spaces available is 25.

Students must be 14½ years of age when the classes begin to be eligible to register. To complete the class, students must have thirty hours of class time and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.  We hope to offer another class in the fall through WatsOnWheels, but we have yet to schedule specific dates.

After the class portion is complete, the instructor will coordinate with students individually to complete the behind-the-wheel requirements during their school drop periods or after school hours.

The $350 fee is due on the first day of class and may be charged to the student’s Cannon School account or paid in the form of a check made out to “Watson Wheels LLC”.

To register for the spring driver education class, please complete this Google Form

SPIRIT WEEK 1/25-1/29

Friday: Cannon Spirit

Hi Everyone!

The Black Affinity and Student Council Block Love Charlotte is a local black-owned non-profit organization that’s vision is to “improve the quality of life for those individuals that suffer from homelessness, domestic violence, and single fathers; one block at a time in our communities”.

Block Love Charlotte asks that we collect food such as snack crackers, cookies, fresh fruit, pop-top canned foods, soups, water, and other drinks. They also need tents, sleeping bags, and toiletries. If you choose to donate clothing, please limit your donations to jeans for men and women, underwear, long sleeve shirts, hoodies, light-weight jackets, sneakers/work boots, and blankets. Visit their website https://blockloveclt.org/about-us for more information and ways to help.

Our supply drive will end on February 5th and the advisory that collects the most supplies will get a dress down day! If you have any questions, email me at aequan@cannonschool.org.

Please see this video.
