ADVISORY AGENDA 4.9.20 (Day 2)

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have to enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” -Melody Beattie

Janine Bonilla demonstrated PASSION in English II when she did her best writing of the year on an assignment that is of lesser point value than others. Way to BRING IT, Janine!

Blake Tracy showed PASSION for Marine Science when she asked about a species of clam she had noticed at the beach.

No birthdays!

⬅️ Today’s schedule

***Drivers’ Ed Online Classes

The DMV has just granted WatsOnWheels permission to conduct driver’s education classes online starting on Monday, April 13th.  Anyone who had previously signed up will be contacted by them directly.  If you now want to participate in these classes, please go to their website at watsonwheelsnc.com to sign up.

Please let them know that you are a Cannon student so you will get the discounted rate.

AP/AT Students: On Friday, April 3, College Board provided additional details and updates to this year’s “at-home” AP Exam testing process. Please check your email regularly for direct communications from College Board. You can access an informational “one-pager” of the changes to AP Exam administration HERE – this document will be updated as College Board releases more information. Please contact Mrs. Kulp, your College Counselor, or your AP teacher with questions or concerns.

Every Monday from 8:30-9:30 am, ACC will host an “open” meeting opportunity for ANY student wanting drop-in support (quick check-in, questions, virtual space to work, etc.). Students can access the open meeting HERE.

Hello Students (From Mrs. Hoffman)

I hope that you are doing as well as possible and that you find some comfort in knowing that you are not alone in how you may be feeling, any range or combination of: annoyed, anxious, bored, fine, lonely, sad, mad or glad (or anything else!).

-If you would like to connect, please set up a 15 or 30 minute appointment through this link  https://calendly.com/ahoffman-10/ and I will confirm with a Webex link. Please indicate your preference, call or video.

-Be assured that the office space I have set up at home is in a private area of my house, with a noise cancelling machine outside the door, I use headphones to ensure privacy.

In the meantime, here is some Virtual EncourageMINT!

Feel what you feel and try not to stay stuck

Taking a few deep breaths (1-5) can help you feel more in control, reset your nervous system and help reconnect your mind and body

Remember what resources and tools work for you to take care of yourself:

-Physical activity, talking/videoing with friends, being in nature, listening to music, LAUGHING, journaling, expressing yourself creatively: drawing, dancing, singing, playing an instrument, writing, etc., (insert other healthy coping skills here________________).

Please e-mail me if you would like written, phone or video encouragement.
