Hi everyone!
My name is Reah Syed and for my capstone I will be doing a presentation on the poverty crisis in India. I have been traveling to India every year since I was born to visit my family, so it is a place that is very close to my heart. The poverty issue there is one that I have seen in person and would like to help raise awareness for within the Cannon community. Please join me in The Cube on Tuesday, March 10th during lunch to learn more about poverty in India and ways that you can help those affected by it. E-mail me at rsyed@cannonschool.org if you have any questions. Thank you!
Short video from Student Council:
From Sadie Miller: Hi everyone! We are having a drive for the Concord Women’s Shelter, and would love donations of gently used clothing, feminine hygiene products, and paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, Etc.) It’s a great opportunity to clean out your closet and give your old clothes to a good cause, Bins are in the Atrium!
Hey Everyone!
For my capstone, I’m getting people together to make homework kits, stem kits, and sight word cards for Classroom Central, an organization that provides school supplies and wellness supplies to children in needs-based schools. I have volunteered with Classroom Central for about a year now, and it is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.
This will be on March 4th right after school in the library annex until 4:30. All of the supplies will be provided (and there will be snacks :)) I’d love to have you there! If you have any questions, feel free to email me vmaheswaran@cannonschool.org
Thanks!

Hey Everybody!
For my capstone, I am trying to recruit volunteers to help with Special Olympics, this coming spring. Special Olympics has always been an important part of my life; I started to help volunteer when I was in 5th grade with family friends and I have continued to go each year after that. It’s a special experience that I would love to share with our community, so I am looking for 20 volunteers to go with me! We will be going on April 9, which is a half-day. Since we will be missing actual school, we still have expectations for everyone interested in going.
-
You must be a Junior/Senior
-
You must have transportation
-
You must stay with your buddy until the games are over (around 1 pm), whether that be in the Olympic village, eating lunch (volunteers receive a free lunch), or walking around. If your buddy chooses to leave, we will find you another way to help.
-
Special Olympics has set a strict number of people we may bring, so please don’t sign up if you are worried that you may need to cancel or go out of town. *You must be committed to going!
-
Remember, this day is special for them, not you!
If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out this form and we will get back to you with a parent permission slip. *You have until March 6 to answer the form.* Please be concise with your answers: https://forms.gle/rmqmq1hb8GgdHgMD9
Thanks!
