Model UN Team Members: if you are interested in an executive position on MUN for next school year, please email Mrs. Shaefer with some times that you are available for an interview!! Mrs. Shaefer and other members of the current exec team will conduct the interviews in the English Office over the next few weeks . We are looking for 4-6 committed members to comprise our executive board next year. Criteria: you are a rising JUNIOR OR SENIOR and have been FULLY involved in Model UN for the full academic year (though preference goes to members who have been committed for 2 years or more. We are also hosting CHARMUN next fall, so even if you are not selected for a full executive position, it is possible that you could be asked to be part of a special planning committee for our local conference. EMAIL MRS. SHAEFER ASAP to let us know you are interested!

For anyone interested in trying out for the cheer team next season, we will have an interest meeting next Tuesday, April 2nd at 4:30 pm in Coach Banks’ room (631). Hi everybody, My name is Patrick Dodds. For My capstone, I am hosting a student short film festival on this Saturday (March 30) from 6-8 pm.  We will be showing a multitude of short films from creators at cannon and other schools. There will be popcorn. Lots and lots of popcorn. Please come out to support some very talented artists, and to have a great time watching great art.Welcome back from Spring Break everyone!

Did you know that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish by weight?! I hope that this, along with some fun service hours, grabs your attention!
I would like to invite anyone interested or wanting to get some extra service hours by coming with me (Liselotte) for a clean-up to support our earth AND my capstone! My capstone has everything to do with plastic pollution in our environment, and I think that it will be a lot of fun to pick up plastic debris with cookies, food, & friends.

As Summer Break draws nearer and nearer, one of our favorite activities is traveling. In fact, my Capstone is associated with my interest in travel through the experiences I had when I went to Ghana in 2014. Next week from April 1st until April 5th, I will be hosting a coin drive on campus as an advisory competition. In each advisory, there will be a jar where I will be accepting spare change (as well as cash if you would like). Whichever advisory donates the most money will receive FREE ADVISORY BREAKFAST.

The money will be given to a Ghanaian college student named Samuel Segla. He is starting a motivational speaking business in Ghana meant to inspire high school and college student. The funds that are raised will go towards the production of a website so he can more easily communicate with schools all across Ghana

Hi guys! I will be hosting an event on Saturday, March 30th from 1pm to 4pm at Kadi Fit in Cornelius, North Carolina. There will be a community workout from 1pm to 2pm. Kadi Fit owners Katie and Mike Dixon will be working with me that afternoon to speak about a healthy mindset around body image, intuitive eating, confidence, and self-love. Katie Dixon will be speaking around 2:15, and Clean Juice will be catered until around 4pm while people relax and reflect on their concepts of self-love and self-worth in their own lives.

My name is Andrew Aldous. I’m a senior and I am hosting a book drive for my capstone. The book drive is to support my Eagle Project which were free community libraries at 3 public elementary schools.

I am in need of book donations for children 4-11 years old. The drive will be from March 25th to April 5th. There will be 3 donation bins setup and clearly marked around the school.  So clean out any old book shelves you have and I look forward to your support.

Hey everyone! I’m Angel Brown and for my Capstone, I am organizing a Spoken Word Showcase on Tuesday, March 26 in the CPAC at 7 pm. The cost of admission is $5 for Cannon students and for other guests, a donation of any amount. All the money raised will go to the World Literacy Foundation to buy books and provide tutoring and literacy resources for children in need all around the world. Please come out to see your talented classmates and a few of my friends perform for a cause.

For our biorex, we are doing three small experiments on dogs to determine if they are left or right-pawed. The experiments will be putting tape on their nose, retrieving a treat from a kong/dog toy, and placing a treat under a chair for them to get. If you would like to volunteer your dog, we will be meeting on April 7th at 11am in front of the softball field (right next to sophomore parking). The treats provided will be free of most common dog allergies. If you are able to come, please fill out this form to make it a quicker and easier process for both you and for us!!

Already involved in extracurricular activities and community service?  Wishing you had a mentor in the community to offer you guidance? Looking for ways to organize your goals and ideas? Cannon graduate Davis Nelson ’16 will present a video about the value of pursuing the Congressional Award , and senior Elena Jacoby will be present to share about her journey of pursuing this award.  The Congressional Award enables young people to intentionally organize their involvement into four pillars: volunteerism, personal development, physical fitness and exploration.  To learn more about the benefits of this program please plan to attend this Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, March 27th.
