Model UN team members who have signed up for CHARMUN: there will be a mandatory meetingTuesday, October 9, in the Library Annex. We will be working on preparations for CHARMUN, announcing your country assignments, and helping you master Parliamentary Procedure. On Tuesday, October 9, your position papers are DUE at the time of the meeting for review by Declan Hurley and other members of the executive board. If you have issues with attending the meetings, please see Mrs. Shaefer, to ensure that your country assignment will be held for you.

Participants are needed to represent Cannon School at the upcoming Academic WorldQuest competition. Academic WorldQuest brings approximately 600 students from the greater Charlotte area to participate in an international knowledge competition.

Seniors: The deadline to apply for Cannon nominations for Jefferson,Centennial or Belk Scholarships is Oct. 19^th. Submit the Request for Nomination form, the required essay(s), and a list of activities/resume to Dr. Wilner via email by 3 pm on Oct.19^th.

Juniors: The deadline to submit an application for Cannon nomination to NC Governor’s School is Oct. 19^th. Materials must be submitted to Dr. Wilner as a printed packet by 3 pm on Friday, Oct. 19^th. If you are interested in applying, please let your college counselor know ASAP, and s/he will help you understand the requirements for applying (which includes two letters of recommendation).

Sophomores: Interested in a fantastic 3-day HOBY Leadership Seminarthis summer? Please read about HOBY online and submit these two items to Dr. Wilner via email no later than 3 pm on Oct. 19^th:

1. Brief paragraph detailing why you want to participate in HOBY.
2. List of activities/resume
