Cameron Ray and Tyler Chase showed incredible teamwork and grit while putting The Mill’s X-Carve puzzle together!


Model UN team members who have signed up for CHARMUN: there will be a mandatory meeting at lunch next Monday, October 1 AND another meeting the following Monday, October 8, in the Library Annex. We will be working on preparations for CHARMUN, announcing your country assignments, and helping you master Parliamentary Procedure. On Tuesday, October 9, your position papers are DUE at the time of the meeting for review by Declan Hurley and other members of the executive board. If you have issues with attending the meetings, please see Mrs. Shaefer, to ensure that your country assignment will be held for you.


Students for Constitutional Government will meet for the first time on Thursday, September 27th in Foundation Hall (11:15am-12pm). Please email Declan Hurley if you are interested in running for an officer position.

Participants are needed to represent Cannon School at the upcoming Academic WorldQuest competition. Academic WorldQuest brings approximately 600 students from the greater Charlotte area to participate in an international knowledge competition.

Lunch & Learn: Governor’s School is a selective 5-week academic summer program offered by the state of North Carolina.  Come to The Cube during lunch to hear from College Counseling and Amelie Kadackal (Governor’s School Summer 2018 participant) about the program, as well as the nomination and application process.  Governor’s School is only open to current juniors, but all underclassmen are welcome to attend to learn about the program.


Seniors: The College Counseling Team will offer Drop – In Hours for Seniors in The Cube on the following dates: 10/3, 10/24 and 11/7.

(Please make note of this change in your planner)  There will also be a College Application Workshop on 10/10 from 9 – 11:15 a.m. in the CPAC


College Admission Events in the Charlotte Area:

TONIGHT: Tulane University will host an evening program.  Register to attend. 7 – 8:30 p.m. Providence Day School, 5800 Sardis Rd.

TONIGHT: Belmont University: will be hosting an information session at Charlotte Christian School (7301 Sardis Rd., Charlotte, NC 28270) at 6:00 PM for high school juniors and seniors from the Charlotte area.  It’s a great opportunity to learn more about Belmont, the application process, scholarships and financial aid, and address any questions that you may have.  You may register via this link.


Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores are invited to sign-up on Family Connection to visit with College Admission Representatives coming to Cannon School.  Students must get permission from their classroom teachers prior to attending an admissions event. Log into your Family Connection account to learn more about the colleges, find out visit times and register to attend. Visits will be held in The Cube or College Counseling Offices.
