Cannon students recently exceeded all expectations to “go beyond”, showing PASSION, and received 11 awards from the National Chinese Essay Contest! Out of 12 entries from Cannon, there were 11 awards! Considering each school is limited to a maximum of 12 students to enter, Cannon did fantastic garnering 11 awards for the 12 participants in the National Chinese Essay Contest. Of our 12 students who participated, Cannon was awarded three Golds, three Silvers, and 5 Honorable Mentions. Peyton Skill, Alexander Varghese and Kate Frankenberg received Gold Awards; Sean Jenkins, Tommy Jones and Jordan Besh received Silver Awards; Elena Jacoby, Will Carey, Rohan Handa, Olivia Anderson and Maya Campbell received the Honorable Mention award. This is a wonderful accomplishment for all our students and Cannon school. Please ensure we recognize their efforts and applaud them for their achievements.

re you interested in learning more about digital photography and what goes into creating a school yearbook? If so, come to the YEARBOOK INTEREST MEETING in Foundation Hall on Monday, Jan 29th during Student Choice. Dean Zelaya and some of the current yearbook staff will be there to talk about the yearbook class for students who may consider this as a course selection for next school year.
ATTENTION ANYBODY WHO LIKES TO DANCE!!! On FEBRUARY 5 during STUDENT CHOICE Cannon Dance Company will be hosting our first DANCE BATTLE!!!!! Students AND teachers will be competing head to head for not only the title of Cannon’s best dancer but a GRAND PRIZE!!!!!! You can freestyle or do a challenge and any of our Cannon dancers would be happy to mentor you!!! There is an interest sign-up sheet outside of Mrs. Todd’s room for the foreign language competition at Lenior Rhyne University. Categories include: Poetry, Culture Bee, Extemporaneous Speaking, Skit Performance, and Singing. Winners will receive trophies, certificates, and bragging rights. You must sign-up by Friday, January 26th.
Halfway There is a special night to honor and celebrate our beloved class of 2018 and it is right around the corner on Saturday, Feb. 3rd! This year’s dance is a semi-formal winter ball with the theme “Light the Way.” We hope to have lots of surprises throughout the evening as we celebrate our seniors. Join DJ Phalse iD for a fabulous dance, great desserts, and a night of fun and entertainment! Seniors will need to plan to arrive by 6:00pm while all others should arrive starting at 7:00pm. Tickets on sale today. Pre-order ticket sales officially end on Tuesday, January 30th because we have to have a final count for food. The tickets are $10 in advance from January 22nd-January 30th and $15 if you are late to purchase including buying tickets at the door. You may get tickets by responding to the Google form that will be sent to your Cannon email account. For your convenience, you may choose to bill your account for the cost of the ticket.
