A representative from Wake Forest’s Pre-College Summer Immersion Programs will be on campus during lunch on Tuesday, Feb. 7 to chat with you about programs available this summer at the Uptown Charlotte campus or at Wake’s main Winston-Salem campus.  Please stop by the private dining room during lunch to pick up some information.

Are you interested in learning more about Yearbook? Come meet this year’s editors, hear from them about their experiences, and ask questions about what it’s like to be a member of our staff. Tuesday, January 31 during Student Choice in Mrs. Morrell’s room (617).

Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors: Space is still available on the West Coast College Tour that will take place June 12-17, 2017. Any student interested in learning more about this opportunity should attend an information session TODAY during Student Choice in the college counseling room (room 616). A representative from EF Tours will share information and answer questions about the upcoming trip. There are currently seven Cannon students, and 16 students total, signed up for the trip. Contact Mr. Segura if you have questions about this trip.

We will be selling RAVE tickets for only $2 at the game 🙂

Some college scholarships are very competitive, and require a nomination, an application, resume, and an interview process. If you are interested in learning about competitive scholarships and best practices to prepare to compete for these prestigious opportunities, come to a Lunch & Learn on Thursday, Jan. 26 during lunch in Foundation Hall.

If you are looking for a language and cultural immersion program this summer, with the added component of volunteerism and service, then ISA may be a great fit for you! Or maybe you are thinking of taking a gap year. With programs in China, France, Italy, Spain, Costa Rica, and Peru, the experience of a lifetime awaits you! Come chat with a representative from ISA during lunch in the private dining room on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 11:15-noon.  

Juniors and Seniors with a love of history, service, and a cumulative unweighted 3.5 GPA are encouraged to apply for the Maggie Coleman Chapter of Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honor Society. Applications may be requested from Ms. Huffman or Ms. Eury, and the deadline to do so is Friday 27 January. Applications are due Monday 6 February.

Curious about GAP Year Programs? Attend the USA GAP Year Fair, Sunday, Feb. 12 from 3-6 PM (presentation 3-3:45 PM) at Providence Day School. The fair will provide you and your parents with a broad exposure to the variety of gap year programs that emphasize experiential education and personal growth through travel, language immersion, directed study, outdoor adventure, community service, and/or internships.  

Registration is open for two new BTB classes for US students! Etiquette: Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask and Don’t Be A Wallflower: Prom Prep. Both classes meet during lunch for 5 days. For details or to register visit www.cannonschool.org/btb

Halfway There is a special night to honor and celebrate our beloved class of 2017 and it is right around the corner on Saturday, Feb. 4th! This year’s dance is a semi-formal with a Winter theme. We hope to have lots of surprises throughout the evening as we celebrate our seniors. Join DJ Phalse iD for a fabulous dance, great snacks, and a night of fun and entertainment!  Seniors will need to plan to arrive at 6:00pm while all others should arrive starting at 7:00pm. Tickets will go on sale today, Monday, January 9th. Ticket sales officially end on Friday, January 27th because we have to have a final count for food. The tickets are $10 in advance from January 9th-January 27th and $15 if you are late to purchase including buying tickets at the door. You may get tickets from Halfway There committee members and their representatives when they come to your advisory, or you may purchase at any time from Ms. Eury in room #701. Tickets will also be available for purchase next week outside of Foundation Hall during lunch. For your convenience, you may choose to bill your account for the cost of the ticket.
