National Mix It Up at Lunch Day is Tuesday, October 27th!!
Tuesday is national Mix It Up at Lunch Day and Ms. Eury’s ELP class is sponsoring an event that will hopefully bring awareness to our community to be more inclusive while having a fun day to meet new people!!
What is Mix It Up day?
“A national campaign launched by Teaching Tolerance over a decade ago, Mix It Up at Lunch Day encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries.” Teaching Tolerance is a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center and we are delighted to partner with them again this year!!
Here is what you can expect:
1. In advisory on Tuesday, you will receive a sticker. Please wear the sticker on the front of your shirt to the top left to make it easier for everyone to see.
2. Throughout the day, please actively look for students with the same stickers and introduce yourself if you do not already know one another. Further (and most importantly), we hope that you will embrace the day and find new people to eat lunch with in your sticker group. The goal is to make new friends! The members of the ELP class will hold special activities for each group at lunch.
3. You can nominate students throughout the day that “go beyond” and truly embrace the spirit of the day. To nominate a student, simply email their names to Mr. K or Ms. Eury. Please include why/how you believe they embraced the day!
4. Have fun, break down social barriers and please keep it going throughout the day!
