Morning Friends,
NCISAA officially sanctioned Esports as a state activity this past year and started a spring season in which our Rocket League, Smash Bros, and Valorant teams have been competing in. It all culminated into a championship tournament this past weekend.
CSG fielded 3 Valorant team, Varsity, Gold, and Pink team and they took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Quite the impressive feat as starting in the semi-finals it was an all-Cannon affair, Gold team ended beating Pink team. Then in the Finals, Varsity beat Gold team. On a completely different side note, Pink team had such an amazing attitude that Stay Plugged In offer the entire team a paid internship to run a middle school girls STEM summer camp.

In Smash Bros, we had Hudson Davis coming into the tournament as the #1 seed, but it was Jake Hayworth and Leland Raines who made it to the finals. In the highly contested match, Jake beat Leland to take home championship.
Finishing up the triple crown of championships, our Rocket League team consisting of Steven Lark, Greg Olson, Michael Micolucci, and Matthew Leck cruised to an easy victory in the Finals over Greensboro Day School.
I think it’s safe to say that we are the 2022 NCISAA State Champs!!!
