Attention Freshmem, the Admission Office at Cannon needs you! We are excited to begin welcoming prospective students to spend the day on campus.   Hosts are needed to help ensure a great visit day.  Hosts are expected to take their visitor to advisory and two classes and make them feel welcome at Cannon. Most visitors will spend part of the day with the host.  If you’d like to host, please complete this survey. Contact Mrs. Holliway at hholliway@cannonschool.org with questions.

Freshmen who sat for the PreACT on October 20: If you want access to your PreACT test booklet, please see Mrs. Kulp in room 606 before this Friday, Dec. 15. Any remaining test booklets will be disposed of after 12/15. Thank you!

Judah King, Kendyl Majors, Jack Wheeler, Charlie Bragg, Kaitlyn Meadows, and Paul Ohrel showed TEAMWORK when they gave up 3 lunch sessions to help interview finalists in our search to find a Dean for the Class of 2028.

Elizabeth Booker showed COURAGE when she volunteered to do a role-play assignment for the Upper School Dean search. 

Carter Cassidy, Sun Lee, and Coleman Ward showed KINDNESS when they helped a teacher in a cold room with a space heater.

Hailey Safranek, Piper Berini, and Cole Frei showed PASSION by designing and decorating a particularly vibrant and creating poster to support swimmers.

Griffin Evans, Colin Kieley, Pratyush Siva, Grant Lam, Bronwyn Seeber, and Alayna Poole showed tremendous TEAMWORK by aiding in myriad MiLL maintenance 

Hita Kumar displayed INTEGRITY and KINDNESS when she turned in a pair of AirPods lost in the CPAC on Friday. Many thanks, Hita!

Willa Needham, Griffin Evans, Jessi Laws, Grant Lam, Nina Schmedake, Sofia Moncada, Julia Schattner, Naya Thakkar, Ari Lopez, Caroline DuMond, Claire Nelson, Sophie Pittman, Olivia Yates, Hope Cooksey, Cole Haigney, Sana Pandey, Jacob Herr, Ishara Shrestha-Rai, Jerica Newby, Shuvani Regmi, Lilly Breese, Ashmi Trivedi, Carolle Kaba, and Clara Dornburg all demonstrated KINDNESS and TEAMWORK when the volunteered to help at Cannon’s first Winter Wonderland event!

Paul Cuadros is an award-winning investigative reporter and author with a portfolio of work published in leading national and local publications such as The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Chicago Reporter, The Center for Public Integrity, and National Public Radio. He is best known for his award-winning book, A Home on the Field, which chronicles the impact of Latino migration on the small town of Siler City, North Carolina, through the eyes of a predominantly Latino high school soccer team that he coached. The book has been selected as a common read at four universities, including the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where Cuadros is currently an associate professor in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. He is also one of the founders and current Faculty Advisor of UNC’s Carolina Latinx Center. In 2014, the television documentary series Los Jets, which was based on Cuadros’ book and produced by Jennifer Lopez, premiered on cable television, with Cuadros playing a starring role. In addition to his work on the small screen, Cuadros is also a prolific writer on immigration and the Latino community. He is currently working on another book about the Latino community in the American South. In addition to his writing, he is also working to produce a scripted television series based on his book.

We are excited to host Mr. Paul Cuadros at our Upper School Community Meeting on Friday, Dec 1st.
