Alexander Friedli refused to give up on a problem that we were working on in Calculus class. Eventually, he found the error and we were able to move forward with the lesson. Thanks, Alexander, for your perseverance and PASSION.
 
For the second year running, members of Cannon’s CDE 3&4 class built a boat to race down the US National Whitewater Center’s class 3 and 4 rapids as part of their annual Build Your Own Boat competition. Huge thank-yous to David Mason, Samuel Schneider, and Aidan Ristich for their TEAMWORK and contribution to the boat build & testing. Massive shout out to the COURAGE demonstrated by Aliza Anderson, Evan Fuller, Ada Hicks, and Merrick Rice as they donned helmets and life jackets and sailed their vessel even farther than last year’s class! Leaders Unite!  Our Keynote speaker on Thursday 11/2 will be Cannon School’s legendary Dean Trojan (AKA JoeTro).  He’ll be discussing the value of COMMUNICATION for a leader.  EVERYONE is welcome. Come to FH with your lunch and let’s learn! 

The North Carolina Music Educators Association will host the North Carolina All-State Orchestra at the North Carolina School of the Arts the first weekend in November. Ian Kuo ’25 auditioned and performed at a very high level to be accepted into the North Carolina All-State Orchestra. He will spend the weekend working with Nobuyoshi Yasuda, a nationally renowned conductor and educator. The orchestra will perform Sunday, November 5 at 4:30pm in the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Congratulations Ian!

This is long overdue, but Hope Kramer displayed COURAGE and PASSION when she led cheers during the JK-12 homecoming pep rally. It’s not easy, but she made it look easy. Way to go, Hope. 📣

Another long overdue Core Value goes to Hudson Davis for displaying TEAMWORK and staying late to clean up a mess after a football game.  Sorry we missed this, Hudson! 🧹

The entire Flowers Advisory: Camauri Davis, Clark Hudson, Emma Jones, Victoria Marion, Linden Sonnefeld, Grace Ter Poorten, Layla Wagner, Sally Woolwine, Addison Maynor, Keira Cassidy, and Hina Nakamura all demonstrated INTEGRITY and PASSION by being the first Class of 2027 Advisory to all complete and all score a 100% on the Honor Council education module. #FlowerPower is in full force! 🌺🌼

Jake Miranda demonstrated TEAMWORK when he delivered an armful of heavy math textbooks to all of his table teammates in Precalculus class. 💪🏼

Alayna Poole demonstrated PASSION for our Student Life program when she took 1st place in our Class of 2027 Kahoot game focused on aspects of Belongingness. Way to go, Alayna!!

Sophie Laatz demonstrated KINDNESS and COURAGE when she spoke up in a group setting to amplify the voice of a classmate who had shared something valuable but wasn’t heard.  Thanks, Sophie, for making our classrooms more inclusive!

Classes and behind-the-wheel instruction will be provided by WatsOnWheels

The classes will be held Monday, November 27th through Friday, December 8th from 4:00 – 7:00. Cost is $450

Students must be 14½ years of age when the classes begin to be eligible to register. To complete the class, students must have thirty hours of class time and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.  We hope to offer another class in the spring through WatsOnWheels, but we have yet to schedule specific dates.
