Important Announcement about Changes to Upper School End-of-Year Calendar:
The US academic year will now end 1 week earlier on May 21, 2026.

The construction of our new expansion to the Matt and Linda Gossage Upper School building is progressing according to schedule and on time ahead of the 2026-27 academic year.

The Upper School spaces in our current building will also undergo substantial remodeling and upgrades, and this work will occur this summer to ensure the building is ready to welcome students again for a timely August kickoff of the 2026-27 academic year. Construction needs will require us to remain flexible and adjust to the project’s requirements.

To accommodate the work and ensure the current building’s remodeling is ready for an August back-to-school opening, we will need to make the following two important changes to our US schedule:

End the school year on Thursday, May 21, a day before Commencement on May 22nd.
Move up our US final exam week by one week to May 18-21.

The updated end-of-year Upper School schedule for the week of May 18th-22nd is now this:
5/18 Monday: A block and E block final exam
5/19 Tue: B block and D block final exam
5/20 Wed: F block and C block final exam
5/21 Thu: Make-up exams, as needed
5/22: Commencement
More details and reminders will be provided to all US students during Advisory time and in US Student Life meetings.

This past weekend, the US Model UN team traveled to UNC Chapel Hill to represent our school at the MUNCH XXVI Model United Nations Conference. The conference brought together 921 delegates from 52 schools across 5 states throughout North Carolina and the East Coast. Please congratulate:

What is the Cannon Athletics Leadership Academy?

The Cannon Athletics Leadership Academy will unify our student-athletes around a shared vision of leadership, providing our student-athletes with the growth opportunity to become leaders inside their respective locker rooms. Leadership is the foundation of a strong culture, and this Academy will provide consistent, actionable development that helps athletes grow both on and off their respective playing surfaces. By setting out a clear program with curriculum and expectations, we build consistency and meet the strong desire our athletes have to lead. This program not only strengthens Cannon Athletics but also equips our student-athletes with lifelong skills that prepares them for success beyond their time at Cannon.
What’s the timeline for the ‘26-’27 application process?
Interest Meeting: March 12
Application Opens: March 23
Application Closes: April 2
Decisions Announced: April 21
This will be open to rising 9th – 12th graders (current 8th – 11th graders). Those selected will form the first full‑year program for 2026–27. Upon completion every year, each participant will receive a certificate of achievement recognizing their commitment and growth as leaders.
